Football Recap: Hayden Drinkard and Tony Morrison Secure Win for George Ranch

George Ranch's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Alief Elsik Rams by a score of 40-31. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Leading George Ranch to victory were Tony Morrison and Hayden Drinkard. Morrison threw for 318 yards and three TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes, while Drinkard rushed for 157 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Drinkard's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards dating back to last season. 105 of Morrison's passing yards were hauled in by Nick Perez.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to George Ranch's defensive line and their four sacks. In that department, Chinedu Umah was the leader with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

George Ranch's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for Alief Elsik, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Coincidentally, George Ranch and Alief Elsik will both be playing Fulshear the next time they take the field. The Longhorns will host the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th, while the Rams will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
