Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is California City's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

California City hadn't done well against Boron recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Ravens put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 21-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Ravens considering their two-run performance the game before.

Nevaeh Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Ramirez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cheyenne Roth, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Makayla Haggins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

California City has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Boron, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

California City will head out on the road to challenge Frazier Mountain at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ravens are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Boron, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kern Valley at 3:00 p.m. on the 29th.
