Softball Recap: Yorktown Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Yorktown and Langley, and Langley kept the tradition alive. The Patriots fell just short of the Saxons by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly two runs.

Yorktown has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Langley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Yorktown is set to square off against their familiar foe George C. Marshall at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Langley will challenge rival McLean at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Saxons 2.4, the Highlanders 0.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
