Southmont took a 30-point loss the last time they faced off against Western Boone, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mounties skirted past the Stars 26-23. The win was just business as usual for the Mounties, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.

Southmont had a senior duo take command as Heath Tolliver rushed for 77 yards and a pair of TDs and Avery Stadler rushed for 154 yards. Stadler didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Southmont didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Western Boone to a completion percentage of just 47.4%. The team can thank Camden Laney for the heroic effort on defense: he. Southmont hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.44 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Western Boone lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jacob Smith, who rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown.

Southmont's record now sits at 7-0. As for Western Boone, they moved to 4-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
