Softball Recap: Archbishop Alter's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Archbishop Alter had lost five games straight , but after bumping their record up to 2-10 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Belmont Bison a 13-0 shutout. The Knights' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.

As for Belmont, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2. The matchup marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

For Belmont's part, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Mcdowell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Alter will take on Valley View at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.95 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Belmont, they will square off against National Trail at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
