Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 45-41 win over Martinsville on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Genna Kidwell out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Kidwell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Tipton, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine's victory bumped their record up to 8-19. As for Martinsville, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine will take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Newton is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. Martinsville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
