Football Preview: Parkview Panthers vs. Brookwood Broncos

Parkview and Brookwood are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2014, but not for long. The Parkview Panthers will head out to face off against the Brookwood Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Parkview took a blow against North Gwinnett, falling 52-13. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Bulldogs are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last match, Brookwood made sure to put some points up on the board against Berkmar on Friday. Brookwood breezed by Berkmar at home to the tune of 46-6. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Broncos had established a 39 point advantage.

Brookwood found their leader in underclassman Brayden Tyson, who rushed for 223 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. Tyson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards. Cj Franklin was another key player, rushing for 73 yards on only five carries.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Brookwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 331 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted was before the start of last season.

Brookwood wouldn't let Berkmar keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Brookwood can thank Chris Scott and Daimon Diggs for forcing both of them. Diggs is also crushing it when it comes to forced fumbles: he's earned at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Parkview's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Brookwood, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.

Parkview strolled past Brookwood in their previous matchup back in October of 2023 by a score of 43-24. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Tyson, who rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Parkview still be able to contain Tyson? There's only one way to find out.
