Baseball Game Preview: Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES vs. Central Columbia Bluejays

Mount Carmel hasn't had much luck against Central Columbia recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The RED TORNADOES will challenge the Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. Mount Carmel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Mount Carmel proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 16) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Danville get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Those two runs were actually the fewest the RED TORNADOES have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Noah Shimko looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jon Morgante, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Lukas Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Central Columbia scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 12-9 to Midd-West. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mount Carmel now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Central Columbia, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Mount Carmel took their win against Central Columbia in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Do the RED TORNADOES have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
