Preview: Fountain Central Mustangs vs. Clinton Central Bulldogs
Fountain Central and the Bulldogs are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Fountain Central Mustangs will face off against the Clinton Central Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fountain Central comes in on three and the Bulldogs on 16.
With a playoff game on the line, Fountain Central rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles and snuck past 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Fountain Central has posted since December 5, 2023.
Even though Clinton Central has not done well against the Blackhawks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Tuesday. Clinton Central came out on top against the Blackhawks by a score of 51-42.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clinton Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Erika Robbins, who scored 17 points. Robbins is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Parkison, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Fountain Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Clinton Central, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1.
Fountain Central might still be hurting after the 60-38 loss they got from the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Fountain Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
