West Elk extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-11-4 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oxford Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 on Thursday.

As for Oxford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch.

For Oxford's part, West Elk's batters probably weren't too happy with Jonathan Elliott, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (he gave up zero walks). Elliott has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oxford's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Logan Gaither, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither West Elk nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
