Recap: Clifton Central Comets vs. Peotone Blue Devils

The Clifton Central Comets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Peotone by a score of 49-41. That's another feather in the cap for Clifton Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Clifton Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Podowicz out in front who scored 15 points along with two steals. Podowicz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Chandler, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Clifton Central pushed their record up to 17-9 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Peotone, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clifton Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Herscher at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. As for Peotone, they will head out on the road to square off against Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
