Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Red Devils vs. Fairfield Central Griffins

The Clinton Red Devils will face off against the Fairfield Central Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Clinton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Landrum as Clinton made off with a 45-19 victory. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clinton to victory, but perhaps none more so than McKenzie Clark, who went 7-for-12 en route to 16 points and eight boards. That's the most points Clark has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mylayja Thompson, who had five points along with ten assists and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfield Central). They strolled past Cheraw with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 75-59. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Griffins.

Clinton pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.2 points over those games. As for Fairfield Central, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Clinton took their win against Fairfield Central in their previous matchup last Thursday by a conclusive 39-18. Will Clinton repeat their success, or does Fairfield Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
