Mission Bay came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Point Loma, but Olivia Karvelis wouldn't allow it. The Pointers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Buccaneers 3-2 thanks in part to Karvelis, who had 22 digs and four aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times she's played.

Point Loma was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (102-100), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 16-14.

Mission Bay's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brynn Sloan, who had 12 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Fiona O'Neill, who had 11 digs.

Point Loma has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Mission Bay, they dropped their record down to 18-14 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Point Loma is set to challenge their familiar foe La Jolla at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mission Bay will square off against rival University City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
