Preview: Mitchell County vs. Turner County
Mitchell County has had a week off and is no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will face off against Turner County in a playoff contest on Friday. The Eagles know how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Turner County likes a good challenge.
Mitchell County was able to grind out a solid victory over Pelham two weeks ago, winning 36-28. The Eagles' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Thomas led the charge as he picked up 102 yards on the ground on 13 carries and threw two passing touchdowns. Thomas has now produced at least one touchdown in the past five games.
Meanwhile, Turner County earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 31-12 win over Macon County.
And it made life painful for the quarterback and got past Macon County's offensive line for a total of four sacks. Leading the way was Quincy High and his two sacks.
