Baseball Recap: Wautoma's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wautoma ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against the Auburndale Apaches by a score of 10-5. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Carson Rose made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Wautoma is 6-2 when Rose posts eight or more strikeouts, but 4-8 otherwise. Rose was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played.

Rose wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Abitz, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ben Miller was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

The victory got Wautoma back to even at 10-10. As for Auburndale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Wautoma didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-5 win against Mauston on the 22nd. Auburndale has also already played their next game (against Iola-Scandinavia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
