Volleyball Recap: Ben Davis Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Central, Ben Davis was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against Irvington Preparatory Academy by a score of 3-1.

Ben Davis had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-21.

Jael De La Cruz paced Ben Davis' offense, picking up 16 kills. De La Cruz got some help from Desron Beauchamp and his 34 assists. Jayden Mayhue controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Irvington Preparatory Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of John Curry, who had 15 digs and three aces, and James Norton, who had 17 kills, 14 digs, five aces, and one block. Norton is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had seven or more in each of the last 13 games he's played.

Ben Davis has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-14.

Ben Davis didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Covenant Christian on the 10th. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Heritage Christian on the 14th.
