Softball Recap: Medford Snags Tenth Win in Last 12 Games

Medford won the last time they faced Northland Pines and things went their way on Friday too. The Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles an 18-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Medford let Finley Arndt and Chelsea Gebauer run wild. Arndt got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Gebauer went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Gebauer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Brahmer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Medford is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northland Pines, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medford will take on Fall Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northland Pines, they will challenge Antigo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Robins will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
