Baseball Game Preview: Farragut Admirals vs. Clemente Wildcats

Farragut is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Clemente is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Admirals will welcome the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Farragut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.

Farragut is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since April 1st on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Mather 4-3.

Robert DeMateo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Farragut let Freddy Garcia and Yoel Guerra run wild. Garcia got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while Guerra went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Farragut is undefeated when Guerra posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Roman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, while Clemente put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Chicago Academy. The Wildcats blew past the Cougars 14-0. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Farragut is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Clemente, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Everything went Farragut's way against Clemente in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Farragut made off with a 10-4 win. Will the Admirals repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
