Softball Recap: Xaverian Clippers vs. Centerville Elks
Xaverian had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 11-1 walloping at the hands of the Centerville Elks on Thursday.
For Centerville's part, Hayley Arnold spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie Carr, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Hopf, who went 1-for-3 with a home run.
Xaverian will head out on the road to take on St. Joseph-by-the-Sea at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Centerville, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-0 win vs. Jefferson County on the 29th.
