The Bear River Bruins will head out to challenge the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bear River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Bear River will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Mira Loma two weeks ago. The Bruins put the hurt on the Matadors with a sharp 18-1 victory. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
Taryn Cleek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adalaide Mason and Macy Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Mason went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double, while Martin got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Mason a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Fiddyment, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Bear River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .784. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Lincoln's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pioneer on Monday. The Fighting Zebras have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bear River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Bear River came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
