Basketball Recap: Hardaway Comes Up Short

Hardaway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a hard 60-45 fall against the Spencer Greenwave. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Greenwave are ranked 137th).

When it comes to explaining why Hardaway lost, don't look at A'Nazhe Purnell. Despite the final result, he posted 20 points. The dominant performance gave Purnell a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sergio Lowe, who put up nine points.

It was another big night for Kerry Griffin, who went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points for Spencer. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Horne, who had eight points and eight assists.

Hardaway's defeat dropped their record down to 5-20. As for Spencer, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Hardaway nor Spencer have any future games scheduled.
