Baseball Recap: Canyon Takes a Loss

Canyon came into this matchup off a tough nine-run defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Golden Valley Grizzlies by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Canyon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Almaraz, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Matthew Jimenez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Canyon has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Golden Valley, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.

While Canyon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
