Basketball Recap: Cylin Tate Key Part of a Team Effort in Hippos Win

There's no place like home for Hutto, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past the Round Rock Dragons with a 69-65 win on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Hippos' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Dragons are ranked 150th).

Hutto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cylin Tate led the charge by going 7 of 8 on his way to 20 points along with six boards and five steals. Tate is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brian Caldwell, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Hutto has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Round Rock, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-9.

Hutto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 81-48 loss against Stony Point on the 31st. Round Rock has also already played their next contest, a 64-49 win against Round Rock Westwood on the 31st.
