Basketball Recap: Hamilton Heights Comes Up Short

Hamilton Heights lost against Guerin Catholic back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hamilton Heights Huskies were dealt a 67-32 loss at the hands of the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 28th).

Hamilton Heights lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jack Kakasuleff, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Saunders, who put up ten points.

Bryson Cardinal was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 boards for Guerin Catholic. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cardinal has scored at least a third of Guerin Catholic's points. Jake Grissom was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

Hamilton Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Guerin Catholic, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Hamilton Heights wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 88-50 victory against Logansport on the 13th. As for Guerin Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-40 loss against Westfield on the 13th.
