Baseball Game Preview: Excelsior Springs Tigers vs. Smith-Cotton Tigers

Excelsior Springs will venture away from home to face off against Smith-Cotton at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Smith-Cotton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Excelsior Springs, who comes in off a win.

Excelsior Springs gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Grandview by a score of 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Smith-Cotton came up short against Willard, falling 13-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Smith-Cotton hasn't been shut out since back in March.

Excelsior Springs' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Smith-Cotton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-14.

Excelsior Springs was able to grind out a solid victory over Smith-Cotton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 10-7. Does Excelsior Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Smith-Cotton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
