Football Recap: Kadence Bailey Leads Hart's Defense on Monday

The Hart Hawks got the win against the Canyon Cowboys on Monday by a conclusive 26-6. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Cowboys are ranked 448th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hart found their leader in sophomore Sayda Lazo, who picked up two sacks and made eight total tackles.

Hart didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kadence Bailey, Genesis Bray, and Natalia Fernandez picked up one apiece. Bailey is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as she's now made five or more in each of the last three games she's played. Lazo was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making eight total tackles.

Hart's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.8 points on average over those games. As for Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
