Basketball Game Preview: Tyler Knights vs. St. Marys Blue Devils

Tyler hasn't had much luck against St. Marys recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tyler Knights will take on the St. Marys Blue Devils in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. Tyler is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.

Tyler is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Paden City: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tyler blew Paden City out of the water with an 88-14 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-3.

It was another big night for Katie Grimm, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 22 points and six steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Stover, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 16 points and three steals.

Tyler was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, everything went St. Marys' way against Ritchie County on Wednesday as St. Marys made off with a 51-31 win. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

St. Marys' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Tyler, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Tyler suffered a grim 75-54 defeat to St. Marys in their previous matchup back in February. Can Tyler avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
