Basketball Game Preview: Round Valley Elks vs. St. Johns Redskins

Round Valley is 1-9 against St. Johns since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Round Valley Elks will host the St. Johns Redskins at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Round Valley sitting on five straight victories and St. Johns on three.

Last Tuesday, Round Valley earned a 53-45 win over Many Farms.

Round Valley found their leader in sophomore Kelci Walker, who shot 6-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least a third of Round Valley's points. Addison Poston was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven blocks and six rebounds.

Round Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 25 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for St. Johns against Northland Prep Academy on Saturday as the team secured a 66-8 victory. The Redskins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Round Valley has also been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for St. Johns, their win bumped their record up to 24-4.
