Baseball Game Preview: Gaston Greyhounds vs. Nestucca Bobcats

For the second straight game, Gaston will face off against Nestucca. The Greyhounds will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gaston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Gaston will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Nestucca, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Bobcats on Tuesday. While the Greyhounds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ayden Hansen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Gaston is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. Hansen was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Zach Bozich was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Ayden Foster was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Gaston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Gaston's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Nestucca, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
