Mojave River recap Oct. 30, 2012
Serrano extended the longest winning streak in Mojave River this week by beating Hesperia, 63-14. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Apple Valley took down Granite Hills 60-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyler Murphy ran for 240 yards in the win.
Tristin Coddington made the biggest impact on defense this week as Oak Hills bested Sultana. The 5-foot-11 defensive end grabbed two sacks.
Daniel Epperson threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns. He went 10-11 with zero interceptions.
Tyrone Glimer was the best wideout in the league this week as the Bulldogs defeated the Sultans. Glimer tallied three receptions for 107 yards. Gino Mastandrea helped Oak Hills' passing attack out by catching three balls for 80 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Epperson of Serrano is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1618. He has also thrown 22 touchdowns. On the ground, the Sun Devils' Murphy has rushed for 1311 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Glimer. The Oak Hills star has 29 catches for 668 yards.
A big matchup in Mojave River this week will be when Apple Valley takes on Ray Maholchic's team. At the moment, Frank Pulice's team is in fifth, while the Diamondbacks are in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Sun Devils take on Serrano. Apple Valley has allowed 114 points this season, while the Diamondbacks have given up 100. The Sun Devils allowed 0 points last week as they topped the Cougars.
Serrano led the league in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on the Scorpions. Epperson ran for one yards in the win.
