Basketball Recap: Poteau Comes Up Short

Poteau was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heavener Wolves. The Pirates were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in January of 2023.

Poteau's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Heavener, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11.

Poteau has already played their next contest (against Stilwell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Heavener will be playing in front of their home fans against Pocola at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. Pocola knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Heavener likes a good challenge.
