Baseball Recap: Laurel Has No Trouble Against Northgate

Laurel never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Northgate Flames. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Flames: they've now won six in a row.

Luca Santini made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Laurel is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-9 otherwise. Santini was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kolton Carlson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Connor Mackrell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Laurel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Laurel's record is now 8-10. As for Northgate, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
