Soccer Recap: Grand Island Comes Up Short

Grand Island was the 2-1 winner over Lincoln High when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Islanders took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Links on Saturday.

Grand Island's goal came courtesy of Kevin Sanchez, who's now up to 16 this season.

Grand Island has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Lincoln High, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Links beat Grand Island by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.
