Pacifica took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against San Marcos, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tritons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Royals on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tritons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mariah Santos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Pacifica's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Denise Gutierrez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Nevaeh Gonzalez was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pacifica's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 6-13. As for San Marcos, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pacifica will face off against Buena at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Marcos, they will square off against Foothill Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
