Softball Recap: Braxton County Comes Up Short

Braxton County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Calhoun Red Devils. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jade Chapman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Hines, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Braxton County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Calhoun, they pushed their record up to 6-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Braxton County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-3 loss against Webster County on the 24th. As for Calhoun, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Wirt County on the 24th.
