Basketball Game Preview: Symmes Valley Vikings vs. Dawson-Bryant Hornets

The Symmes Valley Vikings and the Dawson-Bryant Hornets will round out the year against one another at at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Symmes Valley beat Rock Hill 64-56. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Symmes Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Smith led the charge by going 9 for 21 on his way to 23 points in addition to six steals and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Symmes Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Jones, who made all 5 shots he took to post 16 points.

Meanwhile, Dawson-Bryant was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Joseph Central on Saturday, taking the game 57-48.

The win got Symmes Valley back to even at 3-3. As for Dawson-Bryant, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2.

Symmes Valley and Dawson-Bryant were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but Symmes Valley came up empty-handed after a 57-56 loss.
