Volleyball Game Preview: Woburn Memorial Tanners vs. Burlington Red Devils

Woburn Memorial had won five straight home games and Mateo Qirjazi did his part to make it six on Friday. The Tanners put the hurt on Malden with a sharp 3-0 win with plenty of help from Qirjazi, who had 24 assists and one block. He is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 17 or more in each of the last 15 games he's played.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-16.

Meanwhile, Burlington came up short against Lexington on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Minutemen recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

While Burlington was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Lexington's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-14, 25-17.

Woburn Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's contest: Woburn Memorial hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 6.8 blocks per game. It's a different story for Burlington, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 blocks. Given Woburn Memorial's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Devils will need to find a way to close that gap.
