Basketball Recap: Midway Falls Despite Big Games from Peyton Herring and Kara Beth Benton

Midway easily dispatched Hobbton last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Midway Raiders fell just short of the Spring Creek Gators by a score of 47-44 on Monday. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Midway had strong showings from Kara Beth Benton, who posted 17 points, and Peyton Herring, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most points Benton has posted since back in January.

Having lost for the first time this season, Midway fell to 4-1. As for Spring Creek, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Midway wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 40-29 defeat against James Kenan on the 11th. As for Spring Creek, they will head out to challenge Arendell Parrott Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
