Basketball Recap: Terianna Richardson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Aynor over Latta

Aynor's game on Monday was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 35-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Latta Vikings. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-22 last Wednesday.

Aynor's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terianna Richardson, who posted 16 points along with five steals and five blocks. That was a full 51.6% of Aynor's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Paisley Page was another key player, putting up nine points along with six steals and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Latta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaliya Herman, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points and four steals. Herman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Azarriona Mcrae, who posted two points in addition to nine boards and five steals.

Aynor now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Latta, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Aynor won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hannah-Pamplico at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Aynor is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Latta, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Cheraw at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
