Softball Recap: Oxford Prep Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Oxford Prep's offense. They lost 6-0 to the South Granville Vikings on Wednesday. The Griffins were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Addyson Faucette spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Oxford Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Crowder, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Oxford Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for South Granville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Oxford Prep didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Vance Charter on the 25th. As for South Granville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 18-0 win against Louisburg on the 25th.
