Basketball Game Preview: North Central Knights vs. Lugoff-Elgin Demons

North Central hasn't had much luck against Lugoff-Elgin recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The North Central Knights will host the Lugoff-Elgin Demons at 8:00 p.m.

North Central is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were outmatched by Camden and fell 88-46.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lugoff-Elgin). They took down Lower Richland 59-42 on Tuesday. The Demons pushed the score to 41-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Diamond Hornets cut but never quite recovered from.

Lugoff-Elgin's win came from a few key players North Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Braylen Mumford, who posted 11 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jernigan Williams, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points.

Lugoff-Elgin's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2. As for North Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

North Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Lugoff-Elgin in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, sneaking past 83-81. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lugoff-Elgin's Austin Shilhavy, who went 6 of 8from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and three steals.
