Baseball Game Preview: Hubbard Greyhounds vs. Back of the Yards College Prep Bobcats

The Hubbard Greyhounds are taking a road trip to take on the Back of the Yards College Prep Bobcats at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hubbard will be strutting in after a victory while Back of the Yards College Prep will be coming in after a loss.

Hubbard's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Hyde Park as they made off with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Thiago Monarrez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hubbard let Serafin Millan and Ricardo Romo run wild. Millan scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Romo scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave Millan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Duran, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Hubbard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .952. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Back of the Yards College Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Little Village, falling 11-1.

The victory made it two in a row for Hubbard and bumps their season record up to 8-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Back of the Yards College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Hubbard's way against Back of the Yards College Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Hubbard made off with a 12-3 victory. Do the Greyhounds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
