Basketball Recap: Stratford Knights vs. Berkeley Stags
The Stratford Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight defeat. They suffered a rough 60-38 defeat at the hands of Berkeley. While losing is never fun, Stratford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Stags are ranked 50th).
Stratford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Riley, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. Nizhier Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Stratford has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Berkeley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7.
Stratford will be playing at home against the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Berkeley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cobras at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cane Bay will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
