Softball Game Preview: Silverado Hawks vs. Victor Valley Jackrabbits

Silverado has gone 9-1 against Victor Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Jackrabbits at 3:15 p.m. Silverado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Silverado is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Barstow by a score of 17-12 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now won three in a row.

Alex Valdez was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyzzah Piceno, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Silverado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .465. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Victor Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Adelanto, falling 23-4.

The win got Silverado back to even at 7-7. As for Victor Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything went Silverado's way against Victor Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Silverado made off with a 15-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
