Basketball Preview: Lyons Lions vs. SkyView Academy Hawks
The Lyons Lions will head out on the road to face off against the SkyView Academy Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Lyons focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Lyons was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 37-31 to the Buffaloes.
Gemma Powell put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Vasquez, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, SkyView Academy came up short against the Timberwolves on Saturday and fell 45-38.
Lyons has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for SkyView Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-9.
Things could have been worse for Lyons, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-32 loss to the Hawks in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Lyons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
