Baseball Game Preview: Bethany Community Wolves vs. Bishop McGuinness Villains

The Bethany Community Wolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Bishop McGuinness Villains at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bethany Community's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over Carver. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Levi Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brooks McDowell was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cohen Brame, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.

Bethany Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Bishop McGuinness made sure to put some runs up on the board against Millennium on Friday. Bishop McGuinness put the hurt on Millennium with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Villains haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Bethany Community pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop McGuinness, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Bethany Community might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Bishop McGuinness when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Bethany Community avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
