Volleyball Recap: Willows Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road + How To Watch

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Willows Academy and Woodlands Academy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 2-0. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

While Willows Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23.

Leading Willows Academy to victory were Clare Gannon and Ali Carter. Gannon had four digs and one block, while Carter had nine digs. The dominant performance also gave Gannon a new career-high in assists (18).

Willows Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Willows Academy's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Woodlands Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Coming up, Willows Academy will square off against Schaumburg Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodlands Academy, they will challenge Cristo Rey St. Martin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
