Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans vs. Ethan Rustlers

Mt. Vernon/Plankinton is 2-8 against Ethan since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans will host the Ethan Rustlers at 6:15 p.m. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton didn't have too much trouble with Chamberlain as they won 47-28. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Cubs are ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Ethan humbled Kimball/White Lake with a 52-18 victory. The Rustlers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 32 points or more this season.

Mt. Vernon/Plankinton pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. As for Ethan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-46 loss to Ethan in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Mt.
