After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cascade, North Montgomery was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Southmont Mounties with a 28-22 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Chargin' Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
North Montgomery wouldn't let Southmont keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. North Montgomery can thank Kelby Harwood and Andy Veselji for forcing both of them. Harwood got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 65 yards.
Despite the loss, Southmont still got an impressive performance from Avery Stadler, who rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Southmont also got a significant boost from Cale Chadd, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
North Montgomery's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Southmont, they now also have a losing record at 1-2.
North Montgomery will be defending their home-field for the first time this season they go up against Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southmont, they will venture away from home to face off against Frankfort at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
