The Major League Baseball Draft will be held June 5, but it might be the second day of the draft before any high school corner infielders are chosen. Mock Drafts don't seem to value first baseman and third baseman this year (either at the high school or college level), but that doesn't mean there aren't some quality players available.

Top 10 High School Corner Infielders in the 2014 MLB Draft
10. Bobby Bradley, Harrison Central (Gulfport, Miss.), 1BHarrison Central was down a bit this year (11-13) after finishing second in the state championship last season. Bradley still managed to post solid numbers, batting .340 (17-50) with 11 RBIs, five doubles, two triples and six home runs.
What the scouts like: Bradley has shown the ability to hit to all fields with power. He has done well in power hitting showcases and has good bat speed. Will probably stick at first base.
Where he will go: Rounds 5-10.{PAGEBREAK}
9. Charlie Cody, Great Bridge (Chesapeake, Va.), 3BCody
missed nearly 10 games as a senior after breaking his hand in
mid-April. He has returned to help Great Bridge's playoff run. He batted
.488 last year with six home runs.
What the scouts like: Seen as a good athlete with good speed and solid power, his hand injury isn't expected to be a factor in the draft.
Where he will go: Look for Cody to go early on the third day, possibly fifth round.{PAGEBREAK}
8. Jeremy Vasquez, Martin County (Stuart, Fla.), 1B
Vasquez
concluded a fantastic four-year career with his best season as a prep.
He batted .524 (44 for 84) with 31 runs scored, 37 RBIs, 15 doubles, and
four home runs.
What the scouts like: Makes outstanding contact with a smooth swing. Scouts expect his power to increase at the next level.
Where he will go: Rounds 5-10.{PAGEBREAK}
7. Joe Gillette, Scotts Valley (Calif.), 3B

Gillette
hit for better average as a junior (.385 to .313) but he has slightly
better power numbers as a senior, with six doubles, one triple and four
home runs compared to 3-1-3 as a junior. He has also scored 41 runs and
driven in 17.
What the scouts like: At 6-foot-3, Gillette is prized for his athletic build and his potential. Showed some power, but he also runs well.
Where he will go: Will go somewhere in the top 10 rounds.{PAGEBREAK}
6. Justin Bellinger, St. Sebastian's School (Needham, Mass.), 1B
Justin Bellinger, St. Sebastian's School

Sebastian
hasn't gotten a lot of at-bats this season playing in Massachusetts,
but he's made the most of his opportunities. He's batting .479 (23 for 48)
with 16 runs scored, 21 RBIs, 20 walks, six doubles, one triple and
three home runs.
What the scouts like: At 6-foot-6 and 240
pounds, Bellinger is an imposing sight. He can provide some true power
hitting from the left side of the plate.
Where he will go: He
could be one of the top first basemen chosen. Mock drafts early last
year had him going in the first round. Will probably go somewhere around
the third or fourth round.{PAGEBREAK}
5. Ryder Ryan, North Mecklenburg (Huntersville, N.C.), 3B

Ryan
could also get drafted as a pitcher as he is 5-1 on the season with 81
strikeouts and a 0.58 ERA in 48 innings pitched. At the plate, Ryan is
batting .571 with six home runs and 27 RBIs. He also has walked 33 times.
What the scouts like:
Ryan has become more in shape this season and has increased his
velocity on his fastball, making him a potential pitching candidate.
He's beginning to hit the mid-90s with his fastball and that could get
him drafted somewhere in the third or fourth round. He seems to be
headed to North Carolina, however, which could drop him down in the
draft if teams feel he will head to college instead.
Where he will go: Rounds 3 to 5.{PAGEBREAK}
4. Sean Bouchard, Cathedral Catholic (San Diego), 3B

Bouchard
has been the offensive catalyst for a team that is in contention for
the San Diego Section Open Division championship. He is batting .363 (33
for 91) with 28 runs scored, 21 RBIs, eight doubles and seven home runs.
What the scouts like: Bouchard's easy swing and projectable body frame (6-3, 185) make him an inviting prospect.
Where he will go: Rounds 3 to 5.{PAGEBREAK}
3. Gregory Deichmann, Brother Martin (New Orleans), 3BDeichmann
was one of the top power hitters in Louisiana this year as he belted 11
home runs, nine doubles and three triples. He finished the season
batting .385 (37 for 96) with 35 runs and 31 RBIs for a team that went
31-6.
What the scouts like: Deichmann showed excellent power
this year with 11 home runs. He also has the ability to play anywhere in
the infield, but he will likely end up at third base.
Where he will go: Second to third round.{PAGEBREAK}
2. Zack Shannon, Anderson (Cincinnati), 1B

Shannon
was one of the top hitters in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference,
batting .537 (33 for 75) with 24 runs, seven doubles, two triples, seven
home runs and 31 RBIs.
What the scouts like: A prospect in the
outfield and on the mound, Shannon actually ranks as the top high
school first baseman. He throws around 94 mph, so don't be surprised if
some team gives him a chance to pitch. However he also has plenty of
power at the plate, making him a good candidate to be an everyday
player.
Where he will go: Likely a second day pick, either in the second or third round.{PAGEBREAK}
1. Michael Chavis, Sprayberry (Marietta, Ga.), 3B
Michael Chavis, Sprayberry
Photo by Steve Hampton
Chavis
may have had one of the greatest conclusions to a prep career as his
last four base hits were all home runs. He hit two home runs in each of
Sprayberry's final two games of the season against East Paulding. For
the season, Chavis batted .580 (47 for 81) with 30 runs scored, 37 RBIs,
nine doubles and 13 home runs.
What the scouts like: Scouts
note that Chavis has above-average power, although it has not always
been consistent. A good athlete, Chavis should be able to stick at third
base, but he could end up in the outfield.
Where he will go:
Don't expect any high school third basemen to go in the first round,
however Chavis could be chosen in the compensatory round following the
first round.
